Maxi Pet expands its network in Bucharest and bets on the growth of the pet products market

Retailer Maxi Pet has opened a new hypermarket in Sector 4 of Bucharest, reaching three operating units in the capital and continuing its expansion in a growing local pet products market.

The new location, situated on Emil Racoviță Street, covers 500 sqm and includes more than 15,000 products, ranging from pet food and supplements to accessories and care items. The store also integrates a veterinary pharmaceutical point, a model that reflects the growing trend among specialized retailers to combine traditional retail with adjacent services.

The expansion comes at a time when the pet retail segment continues to develop, supported both by increased household spending on pets and by the expansion of online channels. The company states that an increasingly important share of sales is generated through its e-commerce platform, including from rural areas, where demand for specialized products is growing.

From a commercial perspective, Maxi Pet’s strategy focuses on strengthening its omnichannel presence, combining the physical store network with online distribution and value-added services. In pet retail, this model is becoming increasingly relevant as competition shifts from price toward customer experience and product availability.

Maxi Pet is part of the Pet Network group, which operates several brands across Southeast Europe, including the Animax network in Romania. The group is expanding in a region where the pet products market remains fragmented but shows growth prospects above the average of traditional retail.
