Lidl Romania opens two new stores in Ghimbav and Bucharest, creating 49 jobs
The expansion of Lidl’s network brings customers easier access to quality products in modern, sustainable stores, strengthening the retailer’s presence in Romania.
On March 30, 2026, Lidl Romania inaugurated two new stores in Ghimbav and Bucharest, further expanding its national network. These openings allow the German retailer to offer customers high-quality products at affordable prices in modern and comfortable formats.
The Ghimbav store is located at Strada Făgărașului, No. 2B, with over 1,000 sqm of sales area and 105 parking spaces. The Bucharest store, at Strada Ilioara, No. 54, has over 1,400 sqm and 125 parking spaces. Both stores operate Monday to Saturday from 07:00 to 22:00, and Sunday from 08:00 to 20:00.
The new units have created 49 jobs and meet Lidl’s standards for energy efficiency and sustainability, featuring LED lighting with motion sensors and heat recovery systems in HVAC installations.
“Each store opening brings customers closer to the highest-quality products, supports local producers, and contributes to community development,” said representatives of Lidl Romania.
The retailer is part of the Schwarz Group, headquartered in Neckarsulm, Germany, currently operating approximately 12,600 stores and over 230 logistics centers in 31 countries. In Romania, Lidl has more than 390 stores and six logistics centers, employing over 14,000 people.
