Primark enters the Craiova market: fifth store in Romania to open in June

International retailer Primark will open its first store in Craiova on June 9, within ElectroPutere Parc, marking the expansion of its local network to five operational units in Romania. The new location, with a surface of 3,185 sqm, strengthens the brand’s presence in the south-west of the country and continues its national expansion strategy initiated in major urban centers.

The store will offer the retailer’s standard range, from clothing for women, men and children, to homeware and personal care products. Beyond the commercial portfolio, the space introduces a new design concept in Romania, characterized by extended window displays, lightbox-style lighting elements, and digital screens used to showcase collections.

The operational model includes 18 traditional checkout points, indicating a focus on high customer flow and fast transaction processing, a typical approach for high-volume retail formats.

For the shopping center developer, the opening of Primark represents a continuation of the repositioning process of ElectroPutere Parc, supported by a recent €22 million investment. The stated objective is to attract international retailers and strengthen the complex’s role as a major retail destination in the region.

At market level, Primark’s entry into Craiova is part of an accelerated expansion phase in Romania. The retailer already operates in Bucharest, Timișoara, and Cluj-Napoca, and has planned additional openings in Iași, Sibiu, and Bacău by the end of 2026, indicating an increasingly broad national coverage.
