Schneider Electric Contributes to Regional AI Infrastructure Development
Schneider Electric Romania plays an important role in the development of critical infrastructure for artificial intelligence through its involvement in a major project in Armenia: the construction of an AI data center and supercomputer in the Kotayk province. The Firebird AI project is developed in partnership with the Government of Armenia and is technologically supported by NVIDIA.
The investment, estimated at several hundred million dollars, targets a total capacity of over 100 MW and aims to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence in industry, research, and academia. The project is considered one of the most significant emerging technology hubs in the Caucasus region.
A Strategic Project for Global Digital Infrastructure
AI Data Centers Require Advanced Energy Infrastructure
Firebird AI will integrate thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell units, designed for high-density AI workloads. This architecture requires complex power supply, cooling, and energy distribution systems with high levels of efficiency and resilience.
In the first phase, with a capacity of approximately 15 MW, Schneider Electric delivered an integrated portfolio of energy infrastructure solutions, including UPS systems, medium- and low-voltage equipment, and advanced power distribution solutions.
Direct Role for Schneider Electric Romania
A key role in implementation was played by the Schneider Electric Romania team, which contributed to the delivery of medium-voltage solutions, UPS systems, and low-voltage components, including advanced cooling solutions. The project also involved local and regional partners, including Romanian electrical panel integrators and manufacturers certified by the company.
This collaboration strengthens Romania’s position as a regional hub of expertise in electrical infrastructure for data centers and complex technology projects.
Romania Involved in Large-Scale Global AI Projects
According to Lucian Enaru, Country General Manager for Schneider Electric Romania, Armenia and Moldova, the project highlights the role of energy infrastructure in enabling artificial intelligence and confirms the contribution of the local team to large-scale international initiatives.
Schneider Electric is further strengthening its expertise in developing energy-efficient data centers by integrating electrical infrastructure with digitalization and intelligent energy management.
The Firebird AI project is currently in its first implementation phase, with further expansion already confirmed, opening opportunities for future collaborations in similar regional and global projects.
