Mercedes-Benz Romania appoints Kai-Uwe Trillenberg as CEO starting December 1, 2025

Starting December 1, 2025, Mercedes-Benz Romania will welcome a new CEO: Kai-Uwe Trillenberg, currently Vice President of Marketing & Sales at Mercedes-Benz Thailand. He will succeed Natalie Thompson, who leaves the company after a tenure marked by strong growth and a reinforced market position.

Trillenberg will arrive in Romania in November to ensure a smooth handover alongside Thompson, who has chosen to pursue new professional opportunities outside the organization.

He brings a robust international background in the automotive industry, having started his career in 2003 at smart GmbH. He later held leadership positions in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, the UK, and Ireland. At Mercedes-Benz, he advanced to Director of Marketing & Sales at smart-BRABUS GmbH, where he led the launch of the successful smart-BRABUS tailor-made customization program.

In 2014, he moved to China, taking on responsibilities in Product Management for compact cars, followed by strategic roles in Network Development, where he fostered strong relationships with dealers and investors. Most recently in Thailand, he led the “Retail of the Future” initiative, focusing on streamlined sales processes and improved customer experience through data-driven strategies and a culture of innovation.

“Kai-Uwe brings with him rich international experience and a solid professional track record. With his proven ability to deliver outstanding results through innovative strategies, he is ideally positioned to take over the leadership of Mercedes-Benz Romania,” stated Alexander Henzler, Head of Mercedes-Benz Central and Eastern Europe – Passenger Cars.
