Bozankaya won the tender organized by the Municipality of Iași and will deliver 18 more trams

Rolling stock manufacturer Bozankaya will deliver eighteen more modern trams after winning a new project in a tender organised by the Municipality of Iași. Bozankaya was selected as the preferred supplier after submitting the most advantageous offer worth 141.4 million lei, which is more convenient than the expected contract value of 177.2 million lei, according to the company.

The newly built trams will have a minimum capacity of 135 passengers, including at least 30 seats and a minimum of 5 accessible seats for people with disabilities. These trams will be approximately 22 meters long and are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as air conditioning, heating, Wi-Fi, GPS, LED panels, air conditioning, heating and collision warning systems.

”This achievement reflects our commitment to innovation, excellence and the advancement of sustainable urban transport, as well as our continued good collaboration with local authorities. We look forward to contributing to Iași’s public transport infrastructure and providing a superior travel experience for citizens by providing state-of-the-art transport solutions,” said Aytunç Günay, Chairman of the Board of Bozankaya.

The first tram will arrive in Iași after signing the supply contract in about 15 months. Subsequent deliveries will then be scheduled every three months.

”Thanks to the European funds, through the PNRR and the Regional Operational Programme, our city will have 119 electric means of transport (50 trams and 69 buses), for a total value of about 744 million lei, precisely 150 million euros! We will continue to invest in our programme to modernise public transport and make it green, modern and intelligent!,” declared Mihai Chirică, Mayor of Iași.

Founded almost three decades ago in Germany, with rapid expansion into Turkey, Bozankaya has a solid track record as an innovator in the development and manufacture of environmentally friendly vehicles for urban public transport, with significant energy savings in operation and low noise. Bozankaya owns the intellectual property rights to the vehicles and technology produced in its research centers in Ankara and its vast 100,000 sqm production facilities.
