AmCham Promotes Romania as a Destination for Strategic Investments
The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) will host the third edition of the USA-Romania Economic Forum in Washington D.C. on June 20, 2024. This landmark event is designed to position Romania as a prime destination for American investments.
Under the theme “Partnership for Development,” the forum will convene officials from both the U.S. and Romanian governments, as well as leaders from American companies with operations in Romania. These representatives, alongside AmCham officials, will showcase Romania’s investment potential and highlight its strategic advantages as a regional hub for American investments. The event has garnered support from both the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest and the Romanian Embassy in Washington D.C.
Cristian Sporiș, President of AmCham Romania, underscored the significance of the forum: “AmCham launched the USA-Romania Economic Forum in 2022 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership between our countries. The success of previous editions and the backing of our over 570 member companies strengthen our mission to foster Romania’s prosperity by attracting American investments and aiding Romanian companies in accessing the U.S. market. This year, we bring the forum to Washington D.C. to invite the American private sector to consider Romania as the best investment destination in the region. In a global context that redefines investment relations beyond geographic proximity to ‘friendshoring’—investing in allied countries—the peak of bilateral relations is an invaluable asset for Romania to leverage. Another compelling reason for investing in Romania, which we will highlight in our discussions on June 20, is the country’s robust economic growth, positioning it as a regional leader.”
The forum will include speeches from government officials, leaders of the diplomatic missions, AmCham representatives, and industry leaders, providing insights from American investors already operating in Romania. A special panel will focus on the medical sector’s investment potential, discussing new hospitals funded by European funds, advancements in innovation, supportive frameworks for pharmaceutical production, and high-quality medical professionals.
This initiative aligns with other significant bilateral efforts, including Romania’s endeavor to qualify for the U.S. Visa Waiver Program and participation in the SelectUSA Investment Summit from June 23-26, 2024.
