Delgaz Grid Finalizes €4.6 Million Substation in Onești, Improving Energy Reliability for 31,000 Consumers
Delgaz Grid has completed the construction and commissioning of the Onești Centru substation, a significant infrastructure project designed to improve energy supply reliability and expand capacity in Onești and its surroundings. The investment, exceeding 22.7 million RON (approximately €4.6 million), directly benefits over 31,000 residents in the municipality and 39 neighboring localities.
Modernized Energy Infrastructure
The Onești Centru substation operates at a voltage level of 110 kV, enhancing energy distribution security in the region. Key project components include the installation of 1.3 kilometers of dual-circuit 110 kV network, two power transformers, and advanced 20 kV energy distribution equipment. The substation is integrated into Delgaz Grid’s SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system, allowing for remote monitoring and management.
Enhanced Capacity for a Greener Future
The project not only improves service quality and continuity for current consumers but also boosts capacity to integrate new energy producers, including renewable energy prosumers. Enhanced connectivity between the Onești Centru substation and the existing Onești 35 substation ensures greater resilience in energy supply.
Part of a Larger Modernization Effort
The Onești Centru project is a segment of the broader “Modernization and Integration into SCADA of Onești and Letea Substations” initiative. This larger effort, co-financed through the Modernization Fund, includes updates to the Letea substation near Bacău. The total investment in this program exceeds 100 million RON, with 67 million RON sourced as non-reimbursable funding and the remaining 34 million RON contributed by Delgaz Grid.
Advancing Regional Energy Security
The completion of the Onești Centru substation reflects Delgaz Grid’s ongoing commitment to modernizing Romania’s energy infrastructure. With state-of-the-art equipment and expanded capabilities, the project positions the region for sustainable growth and a transition toward cleaner energy solutions.
