Beko Appoints Marius Mihăilescu as CEO for Five Countries

Beko has appointed Marius Mihăilescu as the new CEO for Romania, Moldova, Greece, Malta, and Cyprus, effective January 1, 2025. Beko Romania announced the leadership transition following the departure of Murat Büyükerk, who concludes his seven-year tenure to pursue new professional opportunities.

During his time at Beko, Murat Büyükerk played a key role in transforming and consolidating operations in the region, strengthening the company’s local presence and reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and innovation. Under his leadership, Beko advanced its position in the home appliance market while supporting local communities and integrating global values with local business realities.

Marius Mihăilescu, who has over 26 years of experience in multinational companies such as Colgate-Palmolive, Philips, and Indesit, has been with Beko Romania for nine years. His strategic vision and market expertise will contribute to strengthening Beko’s position across the five countries under his leadership. “It is an honor to take on this role and lead a team driven by shared values and innovation. Together, we will continue our mission of providing smart solutions that improve lives while focusing on sustainable development and long-term value creation,” said Mihăilescu.

Murat Büyükerk expressed confidence in his successor, stating: “I am proud of what we have achieved in the past seven years and I trust that Marius Mihăilescu will carry forward our vision of growth and sustainability. I remain dedicated to Romania and will continue supporting investment and development opportunities in my new professional journey.” He will now serve as Country Director and Executive Board Member of the American Hospital – Koç Health Care Romania, as well as Board Member for several companies and Advisory Board Member for major Turkish investors in Romania.

Beko Romania has positioned itself as a leader in sustainable business practices, integrating energy efficiency and environmental responsibility into its operations. Since 2002, the company has invested nearly 400 million euros in Romanian production facilities, exporting 84% of its output to over 80 countries. Beko owns two of the largest home appliance factories in Europe, including the Ulmi plant, Romania’s first Industry 4.0 factory, recognized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as a Sustainability Lighthouse.
