Schneider Electric sets new sustainability targets and reports an 82.5% reduction in operational emissions

Schneider Electric has published the first results of its Impact 2030 sustainability program, the new strategic framework through which the French group measures progress in areas such as emissions reduction, energy efficiency, and technical skills development.

For the first quarter of 2026, the company reported an internal Impact score of 3.40 out of 10, compared with the year-end target of 4.20. The long-term objective is to reach the maximum level by 2030.

The most significant published indicator concerns the reduction of emissions generated by the company’s own operations. Schneider Electric states that Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have decreased by 82.5% compared to 2017 levels. At the same time, the company claims that its energy management and automation solutions helped customers save or electrify 47.5 million MWh of energy during the first quarter, which reportedly translated into the avoidance of 20 million tons of CO₂ emissions.

The program also includes circular economy objectives. According to the company, 14% of its core portfolio currently in the design phase already complies with new internal criteria regarding environmental impact and resource reuse.

At an industrial level, Schneider Electric is also attempting to transfer decarbonization pressure throughout its supply chain. The group has included more than 1,100 suppliers in the Zero Carbon Pathway initiative, aimed at reducing indirect emissions generated by production and logistics.

The strategy reflects a broader shift across industries: ESG objectives are increasingly integrated into operations and supply chains as investors and European regulations demand measurable indicators rather than general sustainability commitments.
