Delgaz Grid Invests Over 375 Million Lei (€76 Million) in Low Voltage Lines and Transformer Stations
Delgaz Grid, a member of the E.ON Group in Romania, announced significant investments in modernizing low voltage lines and transformer stations, amounting to over 375 million lei (€76 million). Out of this total, 286 million lei (€58 million) is sourced from the Modernization Fund.
To date, Delgaz Grid has submitted 20 investment projects totaling 33 billion lei (€6.7 billion), seeking 26 billion lei (€5.3 billion) in financing from the Modernization Fund, with the remainder covered by the company. Six projects worth 900 million lei (€183 million), with nearly 700 million lei (€142 million) in co-financing, have already been approved and the financing contracts signed.
These projects focus on the modernization of transformation stations and high, medium, and low voltage networks, as well as SMART metering and network capacity enhancement in the Moldova region. The company operates a distribution network in Bacău, Iași, Neamț, Vaslui, Botoșani, and Suceava counties.
Two specific projects for modernizing low voltage lines and transformer stations have been highlighted, with one already having its financing contract signed. These projects include:
Modernizing approximately 466 km of low voltage network and equipment at transformer stations
Replacing nearly 100 transformers and around 7,700 non-compliant poles
Installing 4,500 SMART meters
Cristian Secoșan, General Manager of Delgaz Grid, emphasized the importance of these upgrades, stating, “98% of prosumers are connected to the low voltage network. To safely accommodate the energy they produce, modernizing the infrastructure is essential. We are committed to developing and enhancing the distribution system’s capacity through both our resources and European funds via the Modernization Fund.”
The complete list of projects submitted for financing from the Modernization Fund, along with brief descriptions, is available on the Delgaz Grid website.
