E.ON invests EUR 2.2 million in community projects and sets record of 2.6 million kWh donated in 2024

In 2024, E.ON Romania allocated EUR 2.2 million to social and educational initiatives, bringing the company’s total community investment to EUR 22 million over recent years, according to its latest sustainability report.

Over 1,500 employees—almost a quarter of the company’s workforce—engaged in volunteering activities last year, contributing around 6,000 hours to support 150 NGOs and institutions, reaching 40,000 direct beneficiaries.

One of the key highlights is the “Dăruiește Lumină” (Give Light) campaign, which set a new record in 2024 with 2.6 million kWh of energy donated to schools, inclusive education centers, and other social institutions. Since its inception in 2015, the campaign has delivered a cumulative total of 6.85 million kWh.

E.ON’s projects spanned a wide range of community needs—from setting up school playgrounds and reading spaces to reforesting and cleaning up tourist trails. Over 58,000 trees were planted, and blood donation drives were organized at various company offices.

Meanwhile, the long-running public-private partnership “Together for Safety,” now in its 12th year, continues to educate 5 million Romanians annually on energy safety via TV, radio, and social media campaigns. In 2024 alone, 10,000 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were installed in homes across 20 counties.

In the education sector, the company modernized lighting in three schools located in Târgu Lăpuș, Marghita, and Târgu Mureș. Additionally, through the “Energy Lessons” program, 83 employee-volunteers delivered 232 hours of training to over 5,000 students in 115 schools and kindergartens.

The report underscores E.ON Romania’s commitment to long-term social responsibility and sustainable investment amid a rapidly evolving societal landscape.
