SARMIS Capital Acquires Majority Stake in MG-Tec Industry to Boost Regional Leadership
SARMIS Capital, a leading investment fund focused on Romania and neighboring countries, has acquired a majority stake in MG-Tec Industry, one of Romania’s largest independent tissue paper producers. This acquisition, which has received all regulatory approvals, aims to provide the strategic and financial backing necessary for MG-Tec Industry to solidify its position as a regional leader.
Founded in 2018, MG-Tec Industry has rapidly grown, reaching a turnover of €58 million in 2023. The company’s portfolio includes a variety of tissue products such as jumbo rolls, toilet paper, kitchen towels, and medical rolls, sold under both proprietary brands and private labels.
MG-Tec Industry recently made a significant €150 million investment to expand its production capabilities. The funds were allocated to the construction of three state-of-the-art production units, equipped with cutting-edge machinery from global manufacturers like Andritz, Gambini, and Fameccanica. One of these units is dedicated to the production of adult diapers and other personal hygiene products, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation and market expansion.
While SARMIS Capital’s acquisition provides strategic growth potential, this €150 million investment underscores MG-Tec Industry’s independent efforts to enhance its operational capabilities and meet increasing market demand.
Dorin Mocan, CEO and co-founder of MG-Tec Industry, commented on the partnership with SARMIS Capital: “We are proud of our achievements in building one of the most modern industrial platforms in the region. With SARMIS Capital as a partner, we are confident in driving MG-Tec Industry towards new heights of growth and innovation.”
Cezar Scarlat, Managing Partner at SARMIS Capital, added: “Our acquisition of MG-Tec Industry demonstrates our commitment to fostering innovation. We are excited to provide the necessary resources to help MG-Tec Industry become the undisputed leader in tissue paper and hygiene products in the region.”
