Greek National Day, marked by an anniversary concert at the Romanian Athenaeum

In honour of the Greek National Day, on the occasion of the 202nd anniversary of the start of the 1821 Revolution, the most important date in the modern history of Greece, the starting point of the National Renaissance, the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in Bucharest organized on 26 March, at 5:00 pm, at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, an exceptional event with the “Megaron” Youth Symphony Orchestra of Thessaloniki – Mousa.

Musical direction was provided by conductor Panagiotis Diamantis.

The evening’s programme included, among others, exceptional works by Greek and Romanian composers Constantin Dimitrescu – “Peasant Dance”, Mikis Theodorakis – “Excerpt from Zorba Ballet Suite”, Lucian Moraru – “Borșa – Transylvanian Suite” and Nikolas Astrinidis – ”Greek Dance”.

The co-producers of this unforgettable evening were: Embassy of Greece in Bucharest, the Hellenic Union of Romania and the “Megaron” Auditorium in Thessaloniki, with the support of the Hellenic-Romanian Chamber of Commerce.
