SAP Partners with AWS to Innovate ERP Solutions with Generative AI

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and SAP SE have announced an expanded strategic collaboration to innovate enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions using generative artificial intelligence (AI). This partnership aims to enhance the adoption of RISE with SAP on AWS, improve SAP workload efficiency in the cloud, and integrate generative AI across critical business applications.

Key innovations include the integration of Amazon Bedrock’s generative AI models into SAP AI Core’s Generative AI Hub. This provides clients with secure access to a wide range of large language models (LLMs) and foundational models (FMs), such as Amazon Titan and Anthropic Claude 3, allowing for the development of customized applications with proprietary data. These advancements are designed to accelerate the adoption of generative AI and modernize key business processes on SAP solutions.

Matt Garman, CEO of AWS, stated, “AWS and SAP now enable companies to rapidly and easily apply generative AI to their core business data, becoming more efficient, responsive, and sustainable.”

Christian Klein, CEO of SAP SE, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “Partnerships like this with AWS are essential as we integrate generative AI solutions into our ERP applications, allowing clients to drive innovation at an accelerated pace.”

Additionally, SAP plans to leverage AWS Graviton3 chips to support SAP HANA Cloud, improving performance, reducing costs, and enhancing energy efficiency. Future plans include utilizing AWS Trainium and Inferentia chips for training and deploying SAP Business AI solutions, significantly reducing development time and maintaining high accuracy and reliability.

With these innovations, AWS and SAP are set to provide robust, scalable infrastructure for ERP solutions, ensuring clients can focus on innovation rather than IT management.
