Saint-Gobain Inaugurates €50 Million Gypsum Board Production Line in Turda

Saint-Gobain Romania has successfully launched its second gypsum board production line in Turda, marking a significant milestone with an investment exceeding €50 million. The new production line celebrates the 30th anniversary of Saint-Gobain Rigips’ presence and innovation in the Romanian construction materials industry.

The state-of-the-art production line spans approximately 14,000 square meters and features advanced equipment for grinding, calcining, forming, drying, and stacking gypsum boards. This modern technology enhances production capacity and efficiency while maintaining Saint-Gobain’s commitment to sustainability. All gypsum boards produced come with Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), reinforcing the company’s dedication to sustainable building materials.

Energy efficiency is a key feature of the new production line, with reduced energy consumption for both calcination and drying processes. “This investment of over €50 million reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening Saint-Gobain’s presence in Romania. The fully operational new line represents a major step towards significantly improving production efficiency and expanding our product range to better serve a growing and diverse customer base,” said Ovidiu Păscuțiu, CEO of Saint-Gobain Group Romania.

The local economic impact is considerable, with the new production capacity creating over 100 new jobs and fostering economic opportunities for regional partners. In addition to increasing product availability in the market, the enhanced production capacity opens new horizons for Saint-Gobain, solidifying its leadership in innovation and quality in the construction materials industry. The company is also considering boosting exports of products manufactured in Turda and developing new types of boards tailored to the demands of neighboring markets.
