E.ON Invests €18 Million in Community Projects, Reaching 5 Million Romanians Annually

E.ON Romania has significantly expanded its community support efforts, investing €18 million in 2023 in key projects focused on safety, education, and environmental protection, according to its latest sustainability report. This brings the total investment in community initiatives to almost €20 million over the past years. These projects have had a direct impact on over 70,000 individuals, including children and adults, benefiting from safety education, volunteerism, and environmental initiatives.

The company set a new record in 2023 with 6,100 hours of volunteer work dedicated to local communities. This represents a sixfold increase compared to the previous year, with nearly 1,450 employees—approximately a quarter of the workforce—participating in the projects.

Through its partnership with the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), E.ON has reached over 5 million Romanians annually with safety campaigns and educational activities. These initiatives aim to reduce risks associated with energy use and promote a culture of safety.

In addition to these efforts, E.ON’s energy donations through the “Dăruiește Lumină” program provided 1.85 million kWh to ten educational, social, and health institutions in 2023. This includes a notable 250,000 kWh donated to the “Romulus Ladea” Visual Arts High School in Cluj-Napoca, as part of E.ON’s collaboration with the Electric Castle Festival.

Moreover, the company has continued its long-term investment in education, focusing on energy efficiency and improved learning environments in schools. E.ON has invested approximately €436 million in enhancing energy use and infrastructure in 83 educational institutions over the past decade, with 2023 initiatives benefiting five schools and two institutions dedicated to children with special needs.

The company’s collaboration with the Zi de Bine Association has also been impactful, with monthly projects supporting education, health, social inclusion, and environmental challenges over the past three years.
