
eMAG Records 220 Million Lei in Orders in 30 Minutes on Black Friday 2024
The 14th edition of eMAG’s Black Friday event saw unprecedented demand, with customers placing orders totaling 220 million lei within the first 30 minutes—a 22% increase over last year. Beginning at 7:15 am, the shopping frenzy led to the sale of 573,000 items at a rate of over 19,000 products per minute. Of these, 34% were selected from customers’ Favorite Lists, indicating substantial preparation by shoppers.
During the event’s peak, the “Golden Minute” recorded 13 million lei in orders at 07:18, up 44% from last year’s high point. In a single second, a staggering 633 products were ordered, underscoring the extraordinary demand.
Tudor Manea, CEO of eMAG Group, noted, “Black Friday started beyond expectations, with customer interest reaching new highs. Over 30% of products ordered in the first 30 minutes were on customers’ Favorite Lists. We’ve prepared over 1.5 million deals at the lowest prices of the year across all product categories. Some of the first orders will reach lockers in Bucharest today at 15:30.”
Among the most popular early purchases were items like the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, discounted to 5,499 lei, with the first 100 units selling out in just 30 seconds. Other popular items included discounted home electronics, apparel, and household essentials, all swiftly claimed within minutes of the event’s start.
Additionally, customers with the Genius subscription enjoyed extra savings and benefits, such as unlimited free deliveries and extended return windows. New subscribers could sign up for a special price of 69 lei, gaining access to exclusive vouchers on both eMAG and Fashion Days.
The Black Friday shopping highlights indicate continued growth in customer engagement and online spending trends, with 75% of orders made through card payments and diverse purchases ranging from technology to travel and groceries.
