Catinvest Invests €36 Million in Expanding Craiova’s ElectroPutere Parc

The French real estate group Catinvest has announced a significant investment of €36 million (178 million lei) to expand the ElectroPutere Parc in Craiova. This development will strengthen the center’s position as the premier shopping destination in Oltenia, with over 100,000 square meters of retail space.

Catinvest’s expansion includes the opening of a new Leroy Merlin store, spanning 13.500 square meters, and the acquisition of the former Leroy Merlin store, which will be converted into an 11.000-square-meter extension of ElectroPutere Mall. Currently, ElectroPutere Parc offers 100.000 square meters dedicated to retail, 24.000 square meters of class A office space, and additional facilities, such as a premium apart-hotel.

Leroy Merlin, the second-largest player in Romania’s DIY market with 21 stores nationwide, has launched its new space within ElectroPutere Parc, increasing its area by nearly 23%. The improved store concept includes a wider variety of construction, decoration, and gardening products, along with 600 new parking spaces for customers. This new store was developed by Catinvest under a long-term lease agreement.

Concurrently, Catinvest has acquired the former 11.000-square-meter Leroy Merlin store to further expand ElectroPutere Mall. This new extension will add 9.000 square meters of leasable space, bringing the total area to over 62.000 square meters, including the Auchan hypermarket. The expansion is expected to attract new international brands, including Primark, which will open its first store in Craiova in 2026, covering approximately 4.500 square meters.

“At Catinvest, our goal is to continuously develop ElectroPutere Parc, transforming it into a vital hub for the local community and businesses, offering easy access and excellent facilities for professional activities, shopping, dining, and leisure. Since our acquisition in 2016, we have quadrupled the size of ElectroPutere Parc. We are confident that this dynamic location has tremendous potential for further growth,” stated Bertrand Catteau, CEO of Catinvest Group.

Catinvest, which owns and manages ElectroPutere Parc, also oversees several other shopping centers in Romania, including Orhideea, Esplanada, and Pantelimon in Bucharest, and Tom in Constanța, as well as in Eastern Europe, such as Savoya Park in Budapest and Borska Pole in Plzen. Additionally, Catinvest operates in the residential and commercial markets in France. Overall, Catinvest owns and manages over 525.000 square meters of space in France and Eastern Europe.
