Home security is becoming an increasingly significant concern among Romanians, with about 40% planning to purchase and install an alarm system in 2024, according to an analysis by Atu Tech (a2t.ro), an online security product store and Romanian importer of security equipment.
In 2023, the Romanian alarm system market saw approximately a 20% growth, reflecting a quick adaptation to new technologies, as per Atu Tech’s analysis. Special attention has been given to wireless solutions, as aesthetics and functionality become crucial selection criteria, alongside the growing need for security.
Manufacturers like Paradox, Hikvision, and Ajax stood out last year by offering innovative solutions that met clients’ security needs without visual compromises.
Atu Tech recorded a 20% increase in alarm system sales last year, with wireless systems being the most sought-after products.
“There is a very high demand for professional wireless alarm systems. People are increasingly focusing on the visual quality of their living spaces and do not want to run cables through their homes for alarm system connections. Moreover, more manufacturers have added certified professional wireless alarms to their portfolios. In the last 3-4 years, due to new competitors entering the market, like Hikvision and Ajax, even established manufacturers like Paradox and DSC have started to improve their professional wireless range,” says Sorin Felea, Director at Atu Tech, noting that professional wireless alarm systems have now reached a much more affordable price level compared to previous years.
Thus, technological innovation and price adjustments have contributed to the accessibility of professional systems, with prices starting at 2,000 lei for a system for a 100 square meter home. In contrast, smart-home wireless alarm systems offer more economical options, starting at 378.99 lei, with advanced functionalities and integration into smart home ecosystems. On average, a wired alarm system costs between 1,500 and 2,000 lei.
The analysis of consumer trends shows that alarms are increasingly integrated into complex security systems, recommended for both residential and commercial sectors. This holistic approach not only enhances crime prevention efficiency, but also ensures optimized management through dedicated applications.
The market shows a clear preference for systems that offer easy management through mobile apps, the integration of fire sensors, and the possibility of extension with other smart devices, such as appliances, smart switches, sockets, smart relays, gate automations, window automations, etc. These trends are driven by the construction sector’s development and the increased need for protection against crimes.
Atu Tech specialists recommend that alarm systems be installed by professional, authorized installers. Improper installation can lead to component damage or malfunction, especially in system programming, which is crucial for their proper operation.
Atu Tech supports its customers with a network of over 2,000 professional installers nationwide (the largest network of security system installers in Romania), providing installation and maintenance services.
Moreover, to prevent or solve issues that may arise during the installation or use of alarm systems, Atu Tech specialists offer phone consultations and post-purchase technical support. When on-site team presence is necessary, they can provide a network of partner installers to take on such tasks.
Atu Tech (a2t.ro), an online store for security products and Romanian importer of security equipment, reported a turnover of over 16.2 million euros (80 million lei) in 2022. Established in 2011 and headquartered in Sibiu, the online store offers over 8,000 products, including video surveillance systems, alarm systems, access control, gate automation, intercoms and video intercoms, fire and sound systems, electrical installations, networking, and telephony.
