Kaufland strengthens its urban network: fifth store in Brașov and an investment focused on volume and services
The expansion of Kaufland’s network in Brașov reflects a strategy of densification in large cities and diversification of services beyond food retail.
By opening its fifth store in Brașov, Kaufland continues its strategy of consolidating its presence in high-traffic urban centers. The new unit, located on Institutului Street, involves an investment that adds approximately 70 jobs and expands the commercial footprint of the local network.
The store has a total area of حوالي 6,000 sqm, of which more than 3,200 sqm are dedicated to sales. The configuration follows the network’s standard model: focus on fresh products, assisted counters, and zones dedicated to fast-moving goods. At the same time, the company continues to introduce complementary concepts, such as DIY spaces under the PARKSIDE brand or ready-to-eat food areas, which increase time spent in-store and the average basket value.
From an operational perspective, the investment reflects a transition toward partial automation: 10 out of 16 checkout counters are self check-out, while the K-Scan system shifts part of the scanning process to the customer. These solutions reduce pressure on staff and optimize flow during peak hours.
The infrastructure component indicates an integrated approach: 252 parking spaces, including for electric vehicles, bicycle facilities, and a commercial gallery with complementary services—from a pharmacy to parcel lockers. Thus, the store functions not only as a retail point but as a proximity hub.
Sustainability elements are present, though pragmatic: recycling systems with financial incentives and the integration of the deposit-return scheme for packaging.
Overall, the opening does not mark a change in model, but rather a consistent execution of an expansion strategy based on density, services, and operational efficiency.
