IREKS acquires land near Bucharest for headquarters and logistics warehouse

The German group IREKS has acquired a plot of approximately 13,000 square meters in Chitila, near Bucharest, where it plans to develop an administrative headquarters with a client center and a logistics warehouse. The transaction was brokered by the real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.

The project represents a new step in strengthening the company’s presence on the Romanian market, where it has operated since 2007 through its local subsidiary IREKS PAN Romania. The group, headquartered in Kulmbach, Germany, is a family-owned international business with clients in more than 90 countries.

Its portfolio includes ingredients for the bakery and confectionery industry, such as improvers, mixes, and malt-based products, as well as brewing malts, flavorings, and ingredients for ice cream production.

According to the consultants involved in the transaction, the location was selected after analyzing several options around the capital. The main criteria included access to infrastructure, availability of utilities, and proximity to clients in the bakery sector.

In recent years, Chitila has developed into an industrial and logistics hub in the north-west of Bucharest, attracting companies from the production and distribution sectors.

The team at Cushman & Wakefield Echinox provided not only brokerage services but also technical assistance during the acquisition process. The analysis included urban planning checks, infrastructure evaluation, utility connection capacity assessments, geotechnical and topographic studies, as well as accessibility and mobility impact analysis.

The new investment will include administrative offices with dedicated customer interaction spaces and a logistics warehouse sized to support the expansion of local operations. Through this development, the company aims to strengthen its logistics infrastructure and service capacity for the Romanian and regional markets.
