Groupama, one of the largest insurance companies in Romania, is investing €1 million in the construction of a new surgical block dedicated to emergency procedures and endoscopy at the Marie Curie Children’s Emergency Hospital in Bucharest. The amount is allocated through the redirection of corporate tax to the Inima Copiilor Association, which is coordinating the project.
The new facility will serve up to 10,000 children annually who require emergency surgical care. Marie Curie is the largest pediatric hospital in Romania, treating approximately 100,000 patients each year. Construction is expected to be completed by early next year.
The block will include three operating rooms – for emergency general surgery, pediatric orthopedics, and digestive endoscopy – along with auxiliary spaces for medical teams. Its proximity to the Emergency Unit, neonatal intensive care, and the hospital heliport will significantly reduce the time between arrival and surgery.
“Every day, children in need of immediate help arrive at the hospital. A modern operating block means faster and safer procedures, and less stress for both parents and medical staff,” said Dr. Anna Kadar, Medical Director and Senior Pediatric Surgeon.
