BuildGreen secures Moldova’s first LEED Platinum certification for Zity Office project

Zity Office has become the first business center in the Republic of Moldova to obtain the LEED v4.1 Existing Buildings – Platinum level certification, marking a major milestone for the local office market. The certification was achieved with the support of sustainability consultancy BuildGreen, while the project was developed by Zorile S.A.

With a total gross leasable area of 12,200 square meters, Zity Office is part of a mixed-use development that includes a seven-floor office building and two upper levels of the Zity Mall shopping center. Tenants include Orange Moldova, Petrom Moldova, Vinăria Purcari, Bergenbier, Ericsson Telecommunication, BDR Associates, Moldindconbank, Victoriabank, and S&T Mold.

The project was completed in two phases: the main office building in 2014 and the mall’s office floors in 2018. Zity Office achieved a total score of 80 points, with:

  • 30 out of 33 points in Energy Performance,
  • 7 out of 8 points in Waste Management,
  • high score in Indoor Environmental Quality for air quality and occupant comfort.

“Our involvement in securing Moldova’s first LEED Platinum office certification went far beyond checking technical boxes. We feel part of a significant shift in mindset that brings Romanian and Moldovan business environments closer through shared sustainability values,” said Răzvan Nica, founder and CEO of BuildGreen.

Zity Office is currently the only LEED Platinum certified office building in Moldova, placing Chișinău on the map of European cities that invest in sustainable and responsible urban development. Its strategic location and integrated urban design support local economic growth by attracting international companies and revitalizing the area.
