Romanian drone manufacturer BraveX Aero has entered a strategic partnership with Germany-based Uniq Things UG to develop and operationalize a new concept: “Swarm-as-a-Service”. The collaboration enables coordinated multi-drone missions for surveillance, border protection, and emergency response.
Under the agreement, BraveX provides its fixed-wing drone platforms, while Uniq Things integrates its swarm coordination technology. This system enables real-time collaboration among drones, task distribution, and mission adaptability with minimal human input. A single operator can control multiple drones, reducing costs and improving operational efficiency.
BraveX was recently awarded at the European EUDIS Hackathon held in Bucharest, for a drone swarm platform designed for border surveillance and rapid response missions. The jury included experts from NATO, Romania’s Ministry of Defence and Economy, and the UN, who evaluated the project’s innovation and implementation potential.
Current BraveX drones have a flight endurance of up to four hours, outperforming standard multirotor drones. Applications include border monitoring, critical infrastructure protection, disaster response, and extending communication networks in remote areas.
The company runs a production line near Cluj-Napoca and aims to deliver 500 units annually by 2028. It has raised €315,000 this year and plans another investment round by early 2026.
“By combining BraveX endurance drones with Uniq Things’ advanced software, we’re building the foundation for aerial operations far beyond the capabilities of individual drones,” said Răzvan Costea-Bărluțiu, co-CEO of BraveX Aero.
