AROBS acquires 65% stake in Sibiu-based Gess Engineering to strengthen automotive testing and validation services

AROBS Transilvania Software (BVB: AROBS), Romania’s largest tech company listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, announced the acquisition of a 65% majority stake in Gess Engineering, a Sibiu-based engineering company specializing in vehicle testing, validation, and integration systems for the automotive sector.

Gess Engineering, officially Global Engineering Services & Solutions S.R.L., brings to AROBS an extensive portfolio of complex engineering services, including prototype testing, performance analysis, and vehicle integration for Tier 1 automotive suppliers and global manufacturers. With this move, AROBS consolidates its presence in the mobility ecosystem and expands its technical capabilities in embedded systems and autonomous vehicle technology.

Founded in 2018, Gess Engineering surpassed 100 engineering specialists between 2023 and 2024, driven by deepening partnerships with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, as well as the expansion of its vehicle integration activities in Sibiu. In 2024, the company reported revenues of approximately 22 million lei.

This transaction marks AROBS’s third acquisition this year, following the July 2024 capital increase through which the group raised €30 million to support its M&A-driven growth strategy. Earlier in March 2025, AROBS fully acquired SVT Electronics, a local data management technology provider. In June 2025, the company completed its first U.S.-based acquisition with a 70% stake in Codingscape, a California-based enterprise software consultancy.

According to Voicu Oprean, Founder and CEO of AROBS, the acquisition follows several joint projects between the two companies, which revealed strong synergies in values and technical expertise. “Integrating Gess Engineering into AROBS strengthens our engineering capabilities and enhances our capacity in testing and validation. Their experience with complex, precision-driven automotive projects complements our competencies and raises the bar for our delivery standards,” he said.

Gess Engineering is particularly known for its expertise in validating advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and other complex vehicle functionalities, covering the full testing lifecycle—from requirements definition and methodology development to test execution and final reporting.

Following the acquisition, Gess Engineering will maintain its current management structure. The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed and are subject to regulatory approval. Gess Engineering’s financials will be included in AROBS’s consolidated statements upon closing.
