The Johann Strauss Festival continues its series of extraordinary concerts in Sibiu, celebrating its anniversary edition with a concert performed by the Sibiu State Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Cristian Spătaru, on Saturday, May 20, starting at 18:00, at the Thalia Hall.
The festival will delight its audience with lively yet nostalgic music from the vast repertoire of the Strauss family and their contemporaries.
The 20th-anniversary edition of the Johann Strauss Festival will bring pieces that are not so often performed to the audience, as Strauss' complete works include waltzes and polkas, quadrilles, and other dances. At the same time, we will honour the 170th anniversary of the birth of the Romanian composer Ciprian Porumbescu, celebrated in 2023 in Romania and around the world.
