The online retailer evoMAG estimates an increase of over 10% in TV sales in May-July, generated, first of all, by the increased interest in watching the matches of the UEFA EURO 2020 European Football Championship.
Compared to previous editions, when there were no socialization restrictions, the fans will watch the EURO 2020 matches mainly from home.
evoMAG estimates sales of over 5,000 TVs between May and July this year and takes into account an increase of over 10% in the number of TVs sold in 2021 compared to the previous year.
"After a beginning of the year with the stagnation of TV sales, we now see a greater interest from customers to such equipment, generated, in large part, by the resumption of sporting events, increasingly affordable prices for TVs with technology state-of-the-art and entry into the portfolio of new models with specifications and functions that allow easier viewing of paid content and access to various streaming platforms, "says Mihai Patrascu, CEO evoMAG.
The category of TVs has, since the beginning of the year, also seen an increase in the average purchase price. Unlike last year, customers are willing to pay more now for a TV. Thus, the average price for a TV rose from 1,100 lei, in 2020, to over 1,300 lei this year, the retailer shows.
